About the Workshop

The majority of psychological frameworks surrounding trauma (like PTSD and Complex PTSD) are rooted in Western contexts, often making them unsuitable for regions like the Global South, where traumatic experiences are ongoing and complex.

The Beyond Post-Traumatic Stress workshop is designed to reframe trauma through the lens of Continuous Traumatic Stress (CTS). Led by experienced mental health professional Myra Saad, this immersive two-day workshop offers participants a critical perspective on trauma, empowering them to explore creative and contextualized approaches to psychosocial support.

Key Workshop Objectives

  • Understand the unique characteristics of continuous traumatic stress in unstable environments.

  • Set practical, culturally relevant goals in psychosocial support practices.

  • Explore and apply creative tools to support emotional healing and resilience.

  • Reflect on both personal and professional challenges through guided expression.

  • Develop intervention strategies that align with your specific skills and the needs of your community.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is specially tailored for:

  • Mental health professionals working in high-stress or conflict-affected regions.

  • Psychotherapists seeking to expand their trauma-informed practice.

  • Frontliners and social workers engaging with ongoing crises or collective trauma.

Whether you’re working with communities impacted by war, displacement, systemic violence, or chronic instability, this workshop provides tools and insights that go beyond the conventional PTSD lens.

  • Gain actionable knowledge on Continuous Traumatic Stress (CTS).

  • Collaborate with peers through creative expression and reflective practices.
